Welcome Veterans  to American Legion Raleigh Post 1. As the first Hispanic member of the American Legion Post 1. It is an honor for me to serve as the Commander of Post 1 at Raleigh NC for 2023-2024. I could not be prouder to represent the legionnaires of the American Legion Post 1. I will continue to defend our Constitution, promote Americanism, and foster Comradeship. I look forward to working with my fellow legionnaires and continue our traditions. If you are a veteran, there is no better Post to belong to. I sincerely look forward to meeting you soon.

MHFA Training 9/11/2023

We are always looking for ways to help our Veterans in Wake County. Some Post 1 members, other Veterans and Community members take the time to learn the basic knowledge of how to recognize, handle and provide assistance and resources to Veterans that may be experiencing some sort of Behavioral Challenge.

This is a service attended by Post 1 on August 4, 2023 of what was the oldest living WWII Army Nurse, Meta Pearl Phillips Monteleon, August 4, 1914 to May 3, 2023. She was a member of Raleigh Post 1 AL for 50 years.

108 years of a remarkable Veteran memorialized.

On May 13, 2023, 1st Vice Commander Sean Van Pallandt and Director-at-Large Jose Hernandez attended the Sanderson High School Military Ball. The JROTC Military Ball is an annual event that celebrates the accomplishments of high school cadets who participate in the JROTC program. It provides them with an opportunity to showcase their military training, leadership skills, and discipline. Sean and Jose presented the Military Excellence and Scholastic Excellence awards to deserving cadets. The Ball was well attended, and cadets were supported by family and friends.

April 28, 2023 Raleigh North Carolina American Legion Post 1 Adjutant Anthony Bonapart presented the Scholastic Excellence and Military Excellence awards to Cadets of the Millbrook High School Army JROTC Wildcat Battalion. The auditorium was filled with parents who shared in the success atories of the cadets.  The mission of the Millbrook High School Army JROTC program is "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens." ​ ​

104th Birthday

During the regular meeting of American Legion Post 1, members celebrated the 104th birthday of the legion.  Refreshments were served along with anniversary cake provided by Finance Officer Roy Durham Sr.  Pictured in the photo are Commander Greg Trapp (holding anniversary cake), 2nd Vice Commander Wayne Bostick (Blue Shirt) and 3rd Vice Commander Bob Allen. 


The American Legion turned 104 on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 – the day in 1919 when the first American Legion caucus, held by members of the American Expeditionary Force, convened in Paris.
